  • Online Tournament Schedule and Rules

All online tournaments will be held on "ZhuMu" (online cloud video conference platform). The pairing for each round of different divisions will be announced in the division's exclusive WeChat group.

The side and the speaking order will be determined by the judge’s coin toss. The decision is final and no appeals will be accepted.

The rules and principles of the competition will follow NHSDLC's original public forum debate rules, so the format of online and offline tournaments will be highly similar.

For details, please refer to the offline tournament schedule and NHSDLC Rulebook.

    Offline Regional Tournament Schedule

The first day of the tournament: opening ceremony, 4 rounds of preliminary rounds (each team will participate in 4 rounds with different opponents).

The second day of the tournament: the top 16/top 32 teams announced, the top 16/top 32 elimination rounds, and the finals.

    Precautions:

    1) Dress code: Debaters are required to dress in formal.

    2) Partner: If the debater does not find a matching partner, he or she can still register for the tournament, but we cannot guarantee that a partner will be found for you.

    3) Pre-tournament preparation: We strongly recommend that you review the competition system and rules, and we recommend that you complete the preparations for the debate in advance.

    4) Tournament results: NHSDLC will announce the results of the tournament on its website as soon as possible.

    Notes:

All domestic debate tournaments in the NHSDLC are divided into two groups: the Middle School Division (only open to students in grade 9 and below) and the Open Division (all students in grade 12 and below can register). The school type and nationality of the participating debaters will not have an impact on the categories registered for the tournament.
